Start your career as a makeup artist with Make-up Mode Masterclass

In January 2012, Susan Markovic will launch her own makeup school, Make-up Mode Masterclass – a school that focuses only on fashion makeup. From editorial to catwalk, fashion to bridal, Make-up Mode Masterclass will cover the art, technique and influences from make-up trends around the world.

Susan Markovic has worked in film, television and fashion makeup for 26 years and is the owner of Make-up Mode, a Sydney-based agency for makeup artists and hair stylists. She is a judge at the International Beauty Expo in Sydney (bridal category) and in 2011 was a judge at Battle of the Brushes. As well as freelancing in fashion, Susan has taught extensively at various makeup colleges in Sydney. This includes a five-year stint at The Art and Technology of Make-up College (3Arts).

Make-up Mode Masterclass’ main objective is to raise the standard of makeup education in Australia – to do this the school will provide thorough and extensive hands-on training and mentoring to ensure graduates are job ready.

Many of Susan’s previous students are working successfully as freelance makeup artists around Australia, others are being snapped up by the likes of MAC Cosmetics or as assistants with leading makeup artists such as Rae Morris. Susan has also taught and mentored some makeup artists making a name for themselves including Rachel Montgomery – 2011 Makeup Artist of the Year.

When I first met Susan as an anxious assistant, I was struck by how openly enthusiastically she helps other makeup artists. As her assistant I was grateful to be on the receiving end of her talent and experience. Although I came with some knowledge, there were things that I just didn’t really get until I worked with Susan. I definitely see Susan as the most influential person in my career and credit her with giving me the skills and drive to be a successful makeup artist. I continue to learn from her even now and she is still there to give me advice when I need it.”

Modules at the makeup school will include: fashion/editorial; bridal; airbrushing for high definition as well as editorial and bridal hair classes.
