Celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees, who took photos of her celebrity clients wearing Minx nails, owns the rights to these photos, which she allowed Minx to use.
The images were featured in a video that was housed on YouTube.com and it was falsely suggested that the celebrities featured were wearing a competitor product.
Minx nails have also stated that many photos and articles in various media have similarly misrepresented the nail brand.
Janice Miller, publicist for Minx nails, has issued a release stating that Minx nails works very hard to provide its clientele with unique, high-quality nails, and will not tolerate any explicit or implicit false attribution of the Minx product.
“As a start-up company created by Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin, the Minx team is a small, dedicated group of people who have worked very hard to maintain the Minx brand and reputation. It is extremely frustrating to see companies taking credit for our hard work,” said Miller.
In addition, Minx has discovered that some nail technicians are using solid nail coatings in their salon that are not Minx, but are telling their customers that these products are, in fact, Minx products.
Minx allege the technicians are doing this so that their customers will pay a higher price for a Minx manicure, which is perceived as a luxury brand, however the nail technician is using a cheaper product and thus making a larger profit margin.
Minx have stated that this practice is not only immoral and illegal, but also damaging to the Minx brand as customers believe they are wearing a Minx product, but when the product does not look or wear up to the standard of a genuine Minx nail coating, the customer is disappointed and this damages the Minx reputation.
Minx have called for anyone who may be aware of similar situations in which Minx nails have been misrepresented to contact the company immediately by calling 1800 700 510.
