Twitter gets a 2016 update – and there are rumours of a rise in character limit.
Finding it hard to keep your brand tweets to 140 characters or less? Well 2016 might be your year because there are rumours that the social media app is set to increase its current character limit.
This news is yet to be announced yet so, for now, we will have to keep our tweets tightly edited. But don’t click away just yet because the social platform is road-testing a new feature, which will allow for greater consumer interaction.
The new feature will allow users to individually tweet brands’ messages to their followers and get instant feedback. New call to action buttons will also now be available, along with customisable hashtags, which generate a template message when clicked on of the brand’s preferred consumer tweet – whether it’s a hashtag, an image, video or text.
This spells good news for brands wanting to get their message out there more easily to a larger, more integrated audience of tweeters.
