Fresha has been recognised abroad as one of the fastest growing online marketplaces globally.
The salon booking software company was listed in 59th place on Andreessen Horowitz’s yearly Marketplace 100. Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is a US-based venture capital firm that provides investment in entrepreneurs, namely from within the technology space.
Fresha came in second place out of only eight businesses that fell under the Health + Wellness category.
Businesses were ranked based on the following criteria: annual gross merchandise volume (GMV) from Bloomberg, app performance data from Apptopia, and SimilarWeb.
According to a16z’s website, a marketplace is identified as “any platform that connects buyers and sellers of goods/services with each other and facilitates a transaction.”
On the listing, Fresha’s founder and CEO, William Zeqiri said “this milestone demonstrates our partners’ adoption of our technology to manage their businesses and emphasises Fresha’s customer-centric approach, which perfectly aligns with consumers’ preferences for discovering, booking, and paying for beauty and wellness appointments with local businesses.”
The ethos behind UK founded Fresha is to provide a streamline process for beauty and wellness businesses to connect with their clients. The platform arms its users with a suite of tools such as appointment bookings, POS, customer records management, marketing automation, loyalty programs, beauty product inventory, and team management. Fresha is currently used by around 90,000 merchants globally.
In 2021, Professional Beauty reported that Huda Kattan (successful beauty influencer and founder of Huda Beauty) had invested in the booking software company. “I’ve witnessed first-hand the positive impact Fresha has for beauty entrepreneurs,” Huda said. “The company is a force for good in the growing community of beauty professionals around the globe, who are increasingly adopting a self-employed approach. By making top business software accessible without any subscription fees, Fresha lets professionals focus on what they do best — offering great experiences for their customers,” said Huda Kattan.
