It’s time to get the lippie out; Liptember is on again this September! With all proceeds going towards raising awareness into the important issue of women’s mental health, this is a beauty event with heart.
Throughout the month of September, women are being encouraged to “kiss away the blues” by wearing one of Liptember’s brightly‐coloured lipsticks (sold at Chemist Warehouse, My Chemist and My Beauty Spot nationwide), in support of women’s mental health.
In its seventh year running, all proceeds will go towards the Centre for Women’s Mental Health and Lifeline, which aids national research and support for women across the country.
Suicide is the biggest single cause of death for women aged 20-34, and a staggering one in three Australian women will suffer depression or anxiety during their lifetime. Statistically, women are much more likely than men to suffer from depression and anxiety, yet, oddly, there is very little mental health research based on women. Which is where Liptember steps in; organisers believe there’s a strong case for treating the sexes separately when it comes to these mental issues.
“From humble beginnings, Liptember has now grown to into a foundation that supports thousands of women across the country,” says Luke Morris, founder of Liptember. “We’re incredibly proud to now be in a position to fund some really significant outcomes and break down some barriers around mental health. The campaign has now formed a real community where women can connect, share experiences and provide much needed support.”
And it’s so easy to get involved. Just register here and get you pals to sponsor you for wearing bright Liptember lippie throughout September (come on, it’s easier than running a marathon!).
Of course, you can go it alone but why not get your whole salon team on board to support this great cause – it’s also a great way to give everyone a lift after a long cold winter!
