The eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in the body being only 0.5mm thick and around four times thinner than average skin. This is one of the reasons why normal ageing processes of the skin are far more visible around our eyes. As we age, the skin loses its elasticity, and the connective tissue in the skin also weakens, which can result in loose skin accumulating around the eyes, forming wrinkles around the eyelids.
