In 2009, the Melbourne International Beauty Expo will host The Nail Awards for the first time in three years. Open to all nail technicians, from students to masters, categories include Tips & Overlay, Sculptured French Twist and Salon Flat Nail Art.
A new education format has been introduced to allow more time for visitors on the exhibition floor. Visitors will be offered the choice of eight individual business seminar sessions presented by independent industry experts as well as the popular interactive workshops run by Elly Lukas College of Beauty Therapy.
Celebrity makeup artist Rae Morris drew a huge crowd at the 2008 Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo and is now confirmed for a live one-hour demonstration in Melbourne 2009.
2009 will also see the Melbourne launch of the industry first Low Carbon Initiative for the Spa & Beauty Industry. The goal of the Initiative is to reduce the operational climate change impact from our industry by 20 per cent by 2015.
The International Beauty Expo has been working with the Australasian Spa Association, Spa Australasia magazine and the Carbon Reduction Institute to develop the Initiative. Participating in the Initiative will let industry insiders investigate practical ways to reduce power, water and waste in their business. Business owners will also be provided with the opportunity to offset some emissions with carbon credits and earn the well-established LowCO2 or NoCO2 business certification logo to promote their environmental actions.
The Melbourne International Beauty Expo takes place from April 4 to 5, 2009 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Expo registration opens on 15th January, 2009. Visit www.internationalbeautyexpo.com.au/melbourne for more information.
