Reed Exhibitions, organisers of the 2009 Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo, have announced the launch of a dedicated organic product area at the expo. The company also anticipates an even bigger and better Nail Awards and Makeup Awards.
The expo will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 8 and 9. Confirmed exhibitors include Payot, Sothys, OPI, Mancine, Sun FX, Dermalogica, Pelactiv and Danne Montague King.
This year the expo will launch an area dedicated solely to showcasing certified organic products, a reflection of this burgeoning trend.
Lauren Ebbeck, Exhibition Director, said: “Global trends see the Spa and Beauty industry’s focus on health and wellbeing, not only on the outside but the inside too! This year, we’ve added a new area to the expo which will feature organic brands showcasing this niche but quickly expanding sector. We’ve invited a range of brands to showcase their latest organic spa and beauty offerings to the industry.”
Makeup artist, Natasha Severino will share her backstage makeup tips and trade secrets in a live-on-stage demonstration. Severino’s portfolio includes work with celebrities such as Miranda Kerr, The Veronicas, Megan Gale, Sarah Murdoch and Radha Mitchell.
The Nail Awards will again attract leading nail artists from across the country competing for what Reed Exhibitions say is the most prestigious nail award competition in the southern hemisphere.
The competition is open to all from students to masters, and includes categories such as Tips & Overlay, Sculptured French Twist and Salon Flat Nail Art.
Previous Nail Awards winner and five times Overall Champion, Viv Simmonds of VIVid Nail and Beaute, said, “Winning the Nail Awards has helped me not only further my career on an international level, but has also given me the drive to continue striving for better!”
Reed Exhibitions predicts that the standard of this year’s Makeup Awards will be even better. Judged by some of the most experienced and respected makeup directors in the industry, entrants are given free reign to create some awe inspiring makeup looks.
Speakers in this year’s seminar program include Tim Pethick, founder and creator of Nudie Juice, one of the ‘Top 10 most influential brands in the Asia Pacific region’, beauty business consultants Paul Carbis, Faye Murray and Sharyn Raiti, and Kirsty MacCormick, Regional Director of Spa Operations for Spatality.
Interactive workshops presented by Elly Lukas College of Beauty Therapy include Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage and Hot and Cold Stone Facial Massage. Participants will be individually guided through the required competencies and receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop.
Workshop sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday with a maximum of 26 participants per session. The workshops are expected to sell out, so early bookings are recommended. To secure a place, visit: www.internationalbeautyexpo.com.au/workshops
