Whether you’re into intricate details, bold colour or scene-stealing prints, knowing what’s trending this new year is the difference between a manicure that’s gorgeously fresh and one that feels outdated. We’ve compiled our favourite looks from the latest Paris and LA shows to ensure you’re ahead of the game, and believe us, it’s going to be a good year.
Ulla Johnson – Nail Artist Jessica Tong was inspired by the youthful femininity of the collection, and used Smith & Cult to create an understated nail with a hint of gold.
Tanya Taylor – Lead Nail Artist Gina Edwards painted half moons on the top and bottom of nail tips, while a base coat of Morgan Taylor New School Nude anchors the colorful shapes so they can boldly stand out.
A base coat of metallic rose silver and smattering of multi-coloured glitter on the edges and tips of the nails are the ultimate show of maximalism.
Artist Michelle Saunders recreated a ‘Californian sunset’ with this design. The carefree and retro vibe of the ’70s also inspired this groovy look.
Novis – Nail artist Alicia Torello used Christian Louboutin nail polishes to create this vintage floral design.
Nicole-Miller – Dark and moody, nails were kept boyishly short and jet black , with a stark white insignia adorning a single nail.
Nicholas – “The look is inspired by the Jordanian desert,” explains Lead Nail Artist Miss Pop to Nail It! Magazine. The first layer consists of NCLA Nail Wraps that she’s hand-painted with a geological print. The second layer is a gold foil coating over top while have been eroded away to burnish the gold to reveal the design underneath.
Jeremy Scott (New York Fashion Week) – “The classic red nail has just taken an expected turn. Soaked in the LA sun and worn on a medium length almond, we’re making it cool to wear red again…and of course, adding our own twist!” CND co-founder and style director Jan Arnold said in a press release.
Desigual – “Inspired by Concrete Jungle, we used Willa and Kelly using a dry brush technique that was inspired by the makeup.” – Holly Falcone, Lead Manicurist for ZOYA
Cushnie et Ochs – Stiletto sharp and gorgeously minimal, this look is all about understated and modern elegance. A glossy nude polish is enhanced by a single shiny strip of silver.
Creatures of the Wind – “The inspiration is going back to basic beauty and taking from nature, greenery and Zen.” – Naomi Gonzalez, Lead Manicurist for ZOYA
Rodarte – Tracylee has outdone herself with this paired-back yet minimally glamourous look at Rodarte. Gold glitter polish was gently painted with a details brush around the edge of the cuticle before a few lashings of high-shine laquer.
Fenty x Rihanna for Puma – These textured talons are exactly what we’d expect the music mogul to wear. Dagger tipped edges embellished with miniature roses are the perfect juxtaposition of seduction and sweetness.
Kenzo – These jewelled beauties at Kenzo were created by Japanese artist Naomi Yasuda, with the softly rounded tips beautifully offsetting the dark moodiness of the jewels and lacquer.
Jeremy Scott (Paris Fashion Week) – A bright base and standout graphic feature are the epitome of Scott’s electric style. Miss Pop created bright coloured polka dot manis, with each girl having a varying colourway.
Alice + Oliva – Using CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish
shades from the upcoming Summer 2017 collection, the CND Design Lab Team created gorgeous feminine and romantic botanical-inspired nails, with a crescent swoop of dusty rose down one side and a single palm leaf down the other.
