The pool of Australian males visiting salon for treatment is increasing, with more spaces extending their menus to suit the guys in our lives.
While many salons offer limited services specifically targeting a male clientele, a select few are placing men front and center. Professional beauty brands are following suit, offering products designed to suit XY skin types.

The Places
MANKiND
Located on Surry Hills’ bustling Crown Street, MANKiND offers an indulgent array of spa packages aptly named to appeal to blokes (think ‘The Presidential’ and ‘Hair of the Dog’). Combining facial treatments with massage, nail therapy and more, clients are pampered from head-to-toe in an environment strictly designed to feel cool and simple, over pretty and feminine. MANKiND’s ‘The Magnificent Seven’ is the business’s deluxe package involving a body scrub and wrap, body massage, face treatment, plus either an anti-aging eye treatment, hand or foot maintenance, all in three-and-a-half hours of bliss.
UNOIT
The goal behind opening salon and barber-hybrid UNOIT almost two years ago was to provide a sophisticated, yet welcoming aesthetics hub for women and men alike. Co-Owner Jessica Ross had noticed a disparity in male versus female client numbers working in previous roles. “I could look back on my career and count on my two hands the amount of men I had seen for skin,” she admitted to PB. Offering a variety of high-performance treatments, including PRP, laser and peels, male clients are encouraged to secure their skin treatments in conjunction with a trip with the business’s adjoining barber. The space is clean, effortless and intentionally gender-neutral.
Face of Man
Face of Man has it all – a skin clinic, a luxe lounge, and a shot of scotch to partner them with. This luxurious space is built for masculine folk after a complete skincare service, from diagnosis through to treatment. The space’s 28-page menu commences with an 80-minute treatment ‘Starting Point’ service inclusive of consultation, facial, and eyebrow and eye treatment. Following an extensive facial list are waxing, massage and tattoo removal services. The team also boasts a ‘King of Skin Bootcamp’ program, with packages starting at a cool $1000.
The Products
PAYOT Optimale
Leaders in the professional skincare space, PAYOT have expanded to develop a new signature range specifically for men. Currently consisting of two products – the Soin Quotiden 3-en-1 Gel Cream and Le Gel Nettoyage Intégral Cleanser – Optimale is housed in sleek black packaging for a luxurious feel. The range largely consists of natural ingredients, including magnesium, iron and copper, and omits a sultry, woody scent on application – divine!

SkinGen Men’s Range
SkinGen is a highly active, efficacious cosmeceutical brand interrupting the market with its extensive product line-up. The Australian owned business has devised a range targeted toward treating indications commonly present in men, such as enlarged pores and excessive oil production. The brand’s men’s range is distinctively labeled in black and contains ten unique products retailed in a professional setting only.
