ACMUSE graduate Nikola Davis won the Film and Fantasy SPFX category at the Face2Face awards over the expo weekend.
Nikola graduated with a Diploma of Specialised Makeup Services as well as the Certificate IV in Makeup (on August 22, only a night before the Expo). Ecstatic about her win, Nikola is looking forward to kick-starting her career with a bang. This new title, along with other fantastic prizes from the competition will help further her career as a makeup artist.
Nikola’s entry in the competition featured a bionic man designed, moulded and sculptured by her whilst studying at ACMUSE. Its detailed structure makes for a standout prosthetic piece, while the creativity behind the design sets it apart from the rest.
“I started sculpting my piece with an idea of the ‘aura’ I wanted to create, rather than a preconceived final image. The character evolved during this process, taking inspiration from a number of artworks that had the aesthetic I was looking for. Needless to say, I’m pleased with the end result,” said Nikola.
“The opportunity to receive feedback from some of the industry’s finest, as well as to win a Face2Face award feels like a dream! There is such amazing talent and raw creativity out there, it’s a privilege to be a part of such a passionate industry.”
