In celebration of Cirque du Soleil’s 30th anniversary, the Australasian College Broadway hosted a catwalk show A Night at the Cirque inspired by the infamous circus entertainers.
The inspired catwalk was hosted at the college on June 25 showcasing student talent and the vibrant flamboyance of Cirque du Soleil. Using theatrical makeup, hairstyling and body paint – models were adorned in vivid and colourful themes of theatrical animals and avant-garde clowns. Students experimented with creative ideas and unleashed colour and drama through painting animal patterns and textures on to the body.
The show also featured live entertainment by singer/student Zoe McDonald and acrobatic dancers dressed and painted by TAC students.
A Night at the Cirque is the first of many collaborative projects between the College and Twiin Productions. Twiin Productions exclusively filmed and captured the event to release one of many large-scale video productions with the College.
The introduction of the concept of Cirque du Soleil to students as a creative reference encourages them to push the creative boundaries and their learnt skills to create a fresh and dynamic methodology that complements their studies. The event offers students of the Australasian College Broadway a fun and interactive way to showcase their talents and also expand on their creative portfolio.
