The Cancer Patients Foundation, in association with the cosmetic industry has launched the inaugural “Dream Week – 7 days of hope”.
Taking place from September 14 to September 20, 2009, Dream Week is an awareness and fundraising opportunity for the Look Good… Feel Better (LGFB) program, a free national community service for cancer patients. LGFB has been helping cancer patients deal with the appearance related side effects of treatment for 19 years in over 155 hospital locations around the country. The objective of LGFB is to help rebuild self-esteem and personal image by providing practical support through the use of skincare, make-up, wigs, hats and turbans.
This year the Dream Ball will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Sydney Hilton Ballroom. A highlight of the cosmetic, fragrance industry social calendar for the year, the ball also generates the majority of operating funds for the LGFB.
There will also be retail support of Dream Week, with fundraising in both Myer and David Jones stores nationally. David Jones will donate one dollar from the sale of every lipstick and lip gloss to LGFB and Myer will donate one dollar from every mascara sold. In addition, windows in David Jones Sydney and Myer Sydney and Melbourne will feature a spectacular Dream Week Tree of Dreams logo.
Over 70,000 Australian women living with cancer have been helped by the program to date, supported by our dedicated network of over 1,500 volunteers from the beauty and hair care industries.
It is estimated that throughout 2009, over 110,000 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer.
