World renowned photographer Andrew O’Toole and hairdresser Robert Maiolo, took over both Sydney and Melbourne’s La Biosthetique studio’s last month to impart their knowledge on La Biosthetique salon owners and editorial stylists.
This was a great opportunity for the guests to experience a live photoshoot and learn how to successfully enter into hairdressing awards such as the internationally recognised Beauty Stylist Awards, which are held annually in Paris.
Both professionals gave the participants a special and inspiring insight into the world of editorial styling and photography. Step-by-step the attendees were able to experience the creation of an award-winning photoshoot including how to plan and schedule a photoshoot, how to read and create schedules and briefs of a successful completion entry and how to put into reality a mood board and perfectly planned shoot day.
The team for the shoot included makeup artists Kylie O’Toole and Simone Forte, professional models, clothing by the Sydney based-label MacRaw and La Biosthetique’s own Alexander Fuchs, who prepped the models using stunning colours from the La Biosthetique Tint and Tone Advanced range. The look and learn workshop were very interactive and the participants were invited to be part of the shoot and assist with the hair work.
The conclusion resulted in a stunning collection where everyone felt they were part of the final result. Alex says, “It was a pleasure to work and organise the event with Andrew and Robert. The knowledge and experience both guest artists were able to share was second-to-none. The results of the shoot speak for themselves. Both of the shorter looks we focused on a perfect cut and colour award entry, where the second look was more editorial and fashion focused. Both creative minds and freelance artists were able to take knowledge out of the class.”
