Olympic swimmer Leisel Jones has been voted the Australia’s most trusted competitive athlete in the Reader’s Digest Australia’s Most Trusted People 2009 survey.
Jones ranked 25th overall in the survey which features prominent Australians including doctors, soldiers, actors, politicians and sportsmen. Jones ranked higher than the likes of Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting (34), Soccer star Harry Kewell (39) and fellow triple Olympic swimming gold medallist Stephanie Rice (59).
The list is voted by the readers of Reader’s Digest who were asked to rate how much they trusted 100 well-known people, on a scale of one to 10.
Jones is an ambassador for skincare brand, Thalgo. Gavin Caganoff, Thalgo Marketing Director, commented on what her survey result means for the brand
“Leisel as the Thalgo brand ambassador continues to be an intelligent partnership and one we are exceptionally proud of; Leisel’s survey result aligns the swimming superstar even more closely to Thalgo. Thalgo’s reputation of over 30 years for safe, effective and professional skin care, positions the brand alongside the Australian public’s perception of Leisel as the most trusted athlete. The award comes at a perfect time when the Thalgo Ethics Charter continues to evolve with protection for the consumer and for the planet at the forefront of every developmental stage of the brand. We congratulate Leisel on yet another outstanding career achievement.”
Earlier this year the 23-year-old Jones declared herself unavailable for July’s FINA World Championships in Rome to concentrate on her beauty therapy studies and allow herself some respite from top level international swimming.
