Li’Tya founder and managing director, Gayle Heron, won an award for environmental innovation at the 2008 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Heron picked up the Nokia Business Innovation Award for Victoria at the annual awards presentation in November, 2008 in Melbourne.
Sol Trujillo, Chief Executive Officer Telstra Corporation Limited, said, “The awards are a showcase of successful women role models and provide a powerful platform to help redress the ongoing under-representation of women in management ranks.”
In 1987, Heron began creating a natural skincare and spa treatment range based on over 40,000 years of Aboriginal plant wisdom and healing traditions. For over 10 years, Heron has also pioneered eco-sustainable and ethical business practices.
She said of the award, “As founder and MD of Li’Tya, I am proud to represent Victoria in the Telstra innovation award and feel honoured to present to the world the healing knowledge of the oldest culture – our Australian Aboriginals. Each moment and every accolade brings us greater awareness which in turn, brings us yet another step closer to uniting us all as one.”
Today the LI’TYA skincare and spa treatment collection is available in over 65 luxurious spa resorts around the world and in over 13 countries worldwide.
