Minx Nails at New York Fashion Week

Minx Nail coverings were used in the Dennis Basso Fall 2010 fashion collection at New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (NYFW) in February.

New York manicurist, Lisa Logan, and her team applied Minx nails in two colours, Tease Me Green and Gold (left) and Tease me Green and Red, to the models.

Lyn French, a New York salon owner who runs makeup and nail teams at Fashion Week in New York and London, said at NYFW:

"We have found that the ease of application and the fact that there is no dry time whatsoever has really made Minx coverings a highly sought after commodity among nail artists working at fashion week events around the globe, where deadlines are tight and time is of the essence."

The brand was also involved in a number of other events at NYFW, including, "Evolving Influence", presented by the International Fashion Bloggers organization: http://heartifb.com/evolving-influence and Beauty with a Purpose: For the Love of Haiti.

Peter Lykissas, Managing Director of Minx Australian distributors, Switch Funky, said since the brand launched in Australia last year, local fashion labels have shown interest.

"We have been approached by several leading fashion labels in Australia in recent times to work with them to produce nails that extend the very designs they are working on right down to the fingertips,” Lykissas said. “We are now able to take the actual fabrics they are working with and scan these into our systems to produce either matching colour and design contrasts or exact replicas of the garments they are designing. This has never been possible prior to the arrival of Minx in Australia. We then apply these using our patent pending technology and the nails can be changed in a moment to suit every outfit worn by the model. Alexander McQueen's famously creative show at the last London Fashion week utilised this technique in partnership with Minx and it was a huge success. It does take some time to have the designs manufactured in the USA, but I expect we will be very busy when next year’s Australian fashion week arrives."
