Napoleon Perdis made his New York Fashion Week (NYFW) debut earlier in the month, serving as Makeup Director for four shows this season.
Models from the Tony Cohen show
Shows from designers Elise Overland, Tony Cohen, Walter and Zang Toi all utilised Napoleon Perdis’ expertise to showcase leading international makeup trends in their shows.
Kate Squires (Senior Core Creative Makeup Artist), Napoleon Perdis and Nicola Snell (Core Creative Makeup Artist)
Two Australian makeup artists, Kate Squires and Nicola Snell, were hand-picked by Perdis to work backstage at the shows with him. Squires and Snell are part of Napoleon's most senior team of artists and both graduated from the Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy.
Both Squires and Snell have grown with the company and worked on Australia's Next Top Model, major fashion weeks in Australia and, more recently, with A-list celebrities at the AFI awards in Melbourne.
The Napoleon Perdis team took part in the following NYFW shows:
Saturday February 13 – Elise Overland: Norwegian-born, New York-based, very sexy, edgy clothes.
Saturday February 13 – Zang Toi: New York-based, 20 years in the business, very avant-garde.
Saturday February 14 – Tony Cohen: Amsterdam-based, shows in NY now, well-established in Europe. Very polished, feminine clothes.
Tuesday February 16 – Walter: ladylike with a twist.
Napoleon Perdis commented:
"I loved working backstage at New York Fashion Week. It was the fusion of fashion, beauty and celebrity that was amazing. It was my first season and I really enjoyed seeing the reaction first-hand from the models and designers to the makeup looks we created. The energy totally reignited my love of working on shows, so much so that I'm bringing all that energy and the trends back to Australia in late March for two masterclass events to share with my customers. NYFW was also a great platform to test out yet-to-be-released products like my new Mesmer-Eyes Mascara, which was a total hit, and for reinventing the classics like our foundation range – in particular the Boudoir Mist Foundation Spray, which every single model loved."
