MRA Events, organisers of the NZ Beauty Expo, say the event looks set to be one of the best in many years. Despite the economic climate, Maria Robins of MRA Events said that the show is looking robust.
“We have a lot of new exhibitors who have never showcased before, from both New Zealand and Australia, and even an organic range from Italy. It is great to see that overseas exhibitors think the calibre of the New Zealand show is such that they want to make sure they are there,” she said.
“In a year like this, the NZ Beauty Expo is the perfect place for suppliers to showcase new products and for salon owners to perhaps add one new product line or service that they hadn’t thought of before, which could add significant value to their bottom line. It really is a great opportunity for both parties to get together under one roof.”
Robins said that an important part of the weekend is the Focus Seminar series. “This year we have focused on providing speakers who can give strong business advice to salon owners, as well as updates from experts within the industry on the latest advances and both aspects are proving very popular.”
The popular Triple Challenge competition on the Saturday offers teams of nail technicians, hairdressers and makeup artists a chance to get creative and come up with a replica of their favourite movie character or musician.
Last year, “Marie Antoinette” took the honours and judges say they are looking forward to seeing even more creativity this year.
The prestigious black tie Industry Awards Dinner on the Saturday night will see awards presented for Best Student, Best Therapist, Best Clinic, Best Spa and Best New Business – a category which was added last year to accommodate those clinics who have been in business for less than two years.
