Professional nailcare brand, OPI, has been partnering with some famous names in the USA recently.
On September 17, the brand took care of the nails on models in Marc Jacobs’ New York Fashion Week show. Models sported a variety of OPI nude shades combined with natural ‘earthy’ make-up tones and over emphasized dramatic eyes.
OPI nail technicians used Dulce de Leche, Malaysian Mist, Barefoot in Barcelona and Samoan Sand to create nude nails that matched the models’ skin tones. Nails were polished off with Matte Nail Envy.
On September 20, at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, OPI was seen on the nails of Emmy nominee Mariska Hargitay (below right) from Law & Order: SVU.
Wearing a silver Carolina Herrera gown, Fred Leighton jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes, Hargitay’s nails were painted in St. Petersburgundy, a rich burgundy, topped with Can You Tapas This?, a raisin shade, by OPI celebrity manicurist Beth Fricke.
In the lead-up to the Emmys, at the Female Nominee Luncheon and the NBC Universal pre-Emmys party, Hargitay’s nails were painted in OPI’s Privacy Please, a sheer delicate pink.
OPI also featured on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October. Announcing that she had finally gone for a manicure, the comic and talk show host devoted her opening monologue to chatting about the array of OPI nail colours available and their “imaginative” names.
Recalling the time when there were only “three or four colours on a tray,” Ellen likened today’s vast choice of nail colours in a salon to “going to a paint store.” She playfully explored some OPI names, including I Only Drink Champagne, I’m Not Really a Waitress, and My Chihuahua Bites – of which she said, “I don’t know how they came up with this! I’m guessing it’s because it’s the colour of the blood that it draws when it [bites]…”
