Professional Beauty Solutions has appointed marketing strategist Vanessa McDonald with plans to ‘zig zag’ and shake things up. Nicole Mangura reports.
Her title may be new, but Vanessa McDonald has an impressive history of connecting industry players and their clients. Having previously worked with Professional Beauty Solutions (PBS) founders Matt and Lisa Williams in 2006, McDonald says returning to PBS is like coming back home.
The newly appointed marketing strategist has over 15 years of sales and marketing experience with high-profile names including the likes of Dermalogica, Shortcuts Australia and Youngblood, has been a freelance marketing consultant and mentor since 2008 and is the marketing director of Salon Success Strategies’s Australian division.
McDonald’s expertise is in helping small businesses build and sustain client bases and profits through marketing and training campaigns which make it easier for clientele to interact and engage with their favourite beauty and skincare businesses.
This commitment to marketing support and client engagement is the focus of the exclusive marketing strategy McDonald is developing for PBS.
“This decisive move will accelerate our strategy to deliver a true all-in-one solution to our customers,” says managing director Matt Williams.
Originally brought on to mentor key accounts, McDonald’s role shifted towards devising a brand new approach to salon marketing both creatively and strategically.
As marketing strategist, McDonald will be personally implementing a program which encourages a greater partnership between the salon owners and the company, giving stockists more time to develop, train, and mentor their team to deliver excellence in the client experience. Having assisted more than 950 salons, spas, and clinics with their communication and marketing strategies, the enthusiastic new team member plans to use her wealth of knowledge and mentoring experience to spice up the brand’s strategy.
“It’s time to ‘zig zag’ and shake things up like never before… It’s wonderful to be a part of a team and to work for people who are open to new ideas and listen and are willing to take action.”
