Temple Skincare & Spa in Sydney’s Hills district have been awarded the Australian Champion Beauty services award for 2015.
When Rene Thorpe took to the stage to accept her business’s award this week, she was more than a little overwhelmed.
The beauty entrepreneur had no idea she’d achieve this kind of success when she first opened the doors of The Temple Skincare & Spa back in 2002 with little more than a passion for her industry and a drive to make a difference in her clients’ lives.
Today The Temple Skincare & Spa has evolved into a renowned destination for clients in Sydney’s Hills district where it resides, with its own dedicated line of skincare products, and Thorpe is a recognised industry leader herself, last year taking out the title of Business Person Of The Year for her entrepreneurial skills, passion and drive.
The business itself has undergone quite the journey to get to where it is today, too, recently moving from being predominantly focused on a mature demographic of 35-65 year old professional women, into two distinct arms – a day spa focused on pampering treatments and parties suited to a younger market, and a media spa with a clear anti-ageing skincare emphasis.
And it’s been a risk which has clearly paid off, with the salon awarded Australian Champion for Beauty Services 2015 in its area at the recent Hills Local Business Awards.
“We’re absolutely honoured and privileged. Sometimes in business we’re all so busy striving to tick that next thing on the to-do list, we forget to stop and look at how far we’ve come. Entering these awards is a lot of work but it enables you to reflect on your journey and be proud of what you have achieved. I am truly grateful for that,” says Thorpe, who attributes the award to a continued commitment to her industry.
“It comes down to hard work, dedication, consistency and a true love and passion that runs through my brand and all The Temple staff. We want to exceed the expectations of every client that walks through our door, no matter if they’re in for a brow wax, or a serious skin treatment.”
And as to where the beauty business entrepreneur plans to go from here?
“I have so many goals! We will open another medi spa this year carrying The Temple skincare brand, systems and philosophies. I also have another branch of The Temple skincare, called Temple Express, where we offer mobile laser and paramedical treatments for salons, and my fiancé and I have launched a mentoring program for our industry,” says Thorpe with excitement.
“We want to support other small businesses and empower them with the fundamental skills needed to keep a sustainable and successful business.”
