For the sixth year running, beauty professionals will gather at Perth Hair & Beauty Expo for a unique, one-day trade show.
The event will be held at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on Sunday 30 October 2022 from 10am to 5pm.
The day will see a range of exhibitors showcase the latest in education, technologies and industry innovation.
A variety of Australian and international businesses are expected to exhibit, including Advanced Cosmeceuticals, Dermatonics, Kitomba Salon Software, Venus Concept, Comfortel Salon Furniture, and many more. Categories covered range from skincare and devices, to makeup and tanning.
Running throughout the day are three educational workshops designed to excite and inspire. Lisa Conway will provide advice around increasing team productivity and profitability. Carmen Braidwood and Ashleigh Jade will run a hands-on social media and video masterclass. And Elsa Mitchell will discuss ideas on how to make the most of your existing client relationships, while pulling in new ones.
Also on the agenda are lash, makeup and nail competitions battling it out for a range of prizes.
Massages and a bar are also available on site to cater to the event’s boutique feel.
Perth Hair & Beauty Expo is a professionals-only event, whereby tickets are not sold to the public.
The Professional Beauty team will also be hosting a stand! Pop by to meet the team, grab a copy of our September/October 2022 issue, and share your business news with us!
We spoke to Perth Hair & Beauty Expo Co-Founder Lydia Kypros ahead of the event to learn more:
What was the motivation behind your decision to launch a beauty expo on the West coast?
“We wanted to build an experience for the hair and beauty community in Perth because there isn’t anything offered on the West coast for hair and beauty professionals, in contrast to Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane.”
On your website, you note that the event is for ‘Professionals Only’. Who are your target guests?
“Our target guests are salon owners, employees and sole traders, and students who participate in the hair/beauty/dermal space.”
You said that the last two years, where the rest of the country faced COVID lockdowns, were your best years yet. Why?
“Perth enjoyed a safe bubble through COVID and the community was really prosperous. This unifying experience resulted in a fantastic turnout and participation.”
You also said that you believe Perth is ahead of the game when it comes to skin. What do you mean by this?
“Perth has a leading skin and cosmetic scene, possibly because there is a wide range of clients who are wanting to look good and are prepared to invest (thanks mining boom!). Clients are looking for the latest treatments and salons can invest in the latest technologies. Perth is a very outdoor and social community and I feel that the population, in general, is investing in skin/hair and beauty more than on the east coast in my anecdotal experience. Consequently, professional service providers are of an exceptional standard.”
You will run three unique beauty competitions on the day. Why do you feel activations like this are so valuable?
“Perth Hair & Beauty Expo are able to offer sponsorship of these competitions to support community leaders to run these activations [from] within Expo. With the location being in one place, it further brings the wider community together. It benefits Expo by bringing entertainment, energy and interest beyond the trade show and education already offered.”
You’ve introduced fun additions to the day, such as a massage service and bar. Why do you feel these touches are important to the overall guest experience?
“Having participated in many expos/trade shows, we wanted to make the experience more engaging and entertaining, providing a special occasion for the hair and beauty industry to look forward to each year.
We want our guests to enjoy the day, be entertained, pampered as well as having the opportunity to shop exclusive specials, new technology and access education they may not have the opportunity to access otherwise.”
