This was the sixth and final question thrown out to our panel at Professional Beauty’s Industry Roundtable as part of the discussion focused on Empowering Women.
Our panel of successful females, including Carley Dowdle from asap skin products, Yvette Wyeth from Activeskin, Tina Copland from Jax Wax Australia, Emma-Rose Dermody from Ivy Brow Co, Mandy Gray from True Solutions and Sonya Annesley from InnerSense Beauty & Day Spa, said it was crucial to listen to, learn from and mentor other women.
Tina said she would love to see Professional Beauty start a foundation that could be used for helping disadvantaged people make a career in the beauty industry.
Yvette said there was nothing better than recognition and listening to other women’s stories, whether they were successful business owners and product developers, amazing therapists, or even client stories.
Mandy said forums like the Industry Roundtable were great because they made an effort to recognise women in the industry and that experts needed to commit to doing some mentoring as it was “badly needed”.
Sonya said it was important to support young people in the industry, particularly with initiatives such as Work Skills Games.
