The BB Glow Treatment is set to be one of the hottest beauty treatment trends in Australia.
We therefore asked Zara Naderi, an industry leader (who travels the world sourcing new beauty treatments) and master trainer at SCHB (Sydney’s leading college for cosmetic tattooing and dermal treatments) a few questions about the new trend.
What is BB Glow?
“BB Glow is a safe and intensive skin treatment that can assist in the reduction of the appearance of freckles and help lighten the skin. It also evens out skin discolouration caused by acne and age spots.
“It is a type of semi-permanent makeup procedure which achieves a glowing, refined skin with reduced appearance of pores for up to four months. It is known as a form of mesotherapy similar to skin needling where a special cartridge is used to push serum into the dermis where it is absorbed into the skin. “
“BB Glow uses this method of delivery but instead of using hormones it uses a tinted solution with hyaluronic acid for collagen stimulation and vitamin c for hyperpigmentation treatment.”
When should therapists use the treatment on their clients?
“BB Glow is a good treatment for anyone who is post acne treatment and wanting to improve the texture and tone of their skin from acne scaring.
It is also effective at reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines as the needling aspect of the treatment along with the hyaluronic acid helps to stimulate collagen growth and plump the appearance of the skin.
The vitamin c in combination with the tinted solution visibly reduces the appearance of discolouration or hyperpigmentation. In addition it can be used to treat freckles, age spots, sun spots and rosacea.”
Where did it come from?
“It seem seems like the treatment suddenly just appeared out of nowhere but actually BB Glow has been a popular beauty treatment in Korea for quite sometime. Originally it was developed as a solution to brighten the skin tone but it has since been found to benefit a multitude of areas and as such has made its way into the western world of beauty.”
How long does it last?
“For optimal results I suggest at least two treatments are given spaced out two weeks apart. The results should be expected to last up to four months at which time the client may return for further treatments. There is no limitation on how many times the client can receive the treatment as the body breaks down and removes the BB Glow serum naturally over time.”
So what about salon costs?
“The treatment is able to be performed using any cosmetic tattooing device that is capable of taking a skin needling cartridge. Single use cartridges usually run at about $40 and one vial of the serum around $25. The treatment itself retails at about $300 per session and takes around 1.5 hours to perform.
“We now offer a one-day BB Glow course at SCHB. While the one day training and supplies package will set you back $1500 itʼs great value for money. We operate with an open door policy so once you complete a course with us you can come back at any time to refresh your memory or to ask for advice.
“By adding services to your salon that are new in the beauty industry you are making your place of business a destination worth traveling to for treatments.”
