Dermatonics® – bucking the direct-to-consumer sales trend

In the current market it seems that more and more professional skincare brands are being sold direct to consumers but one Australian-owned and made brand, Dermatonics, is determined to buck the trend.

Founded and created by Dr Donna Marçal and Dr Helder Marçal, a husband and wife team of medical researchers, the brand has been focusing on the clinic market since it launched its first products in March 2016 ‒ and plans to continue doing so.

Dr Donna Marçal said the brand is focusing on the professional market only as “clinics are in need of a good Australian, natural, skincare range that is exclusive to them”.

“We have heard loud and clear that clinics are frustrated with brands that get them on board and then go and put their products for sale nearly everywhere,” she said.

“We very much appreciate that skin clinics need a tool to use in their treatments and for their clients to go home with – and come back to the clinic, rather than go on to the internet, to buy.

According to Dr Donna Marçal, Dermatonics was created to provide high-quality and effective skin care products that are packed with natural active ingredients, with highly hydrating moisturisers that are excellent for sensitive and sensitised skin.

Each product is carefully developed to ensure that the products for use in-clinic and at-home provide effective results for the skin that “your clients will notice”.

Dr Donna Marçal has a PhD in Biochemistry and has specialised in human inflammation for 17 years while Dr Helder Marçal has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and has more than 15 years’ experience researching tissue and nerve regeneration.

Using their extensive knowledge and background, the couple developed the Dermatonics range featuring their own Nutridermaceutical Technology™.

The patented technology provides “good product absorption with super-pure (super critical fluid extracted) actives that remain pure and active in our products”.

This unique product formulation is what makes the Dermatonics range “stand out from the crowd”.

In addition the Dermatonics team works with each of their stockists and provides continuous support and training – and also develops specific products to meet individual clinic requirements.

Dr Donna Marçal concludes that Dermatonics has a passion for “providing excellent skin care products without harsh chemicals that actually really work and that clients love”.

“Skin clinics work best when their clients buy products from them, so they know what their clients are using,” she said.

“Dermatonics sees this necessity in the industry and is now working with the clinics exclusively for this reason.”
