The social media powerhouse has announced that is has opened applications for its small business grants, encouraging small businesses in the two states to apply for financial support.
Facebook has emailed local operators of Facebook business pages, inviting them to apply for the monetary grants, part of a global programme value at US$100 million.
The programme aims to support up to 30,000 businesses in over 30 countries, with selected businesses to receive $6,400. Those amounts are to be broken down to include $4,000 in cash, and $2,400 in optional advertising credits on the site.
To be eligible for one of the grants, Australian businesses must meet the following criteria:
- Have between two and 50 employees as of January 1, 2020;
- Have been in business for over one year;
- Be a for-profit business;
- Be in Sydney or Melbourne, where Facebook has offices in Australia; and
- Have experienced challenges due to COVID-19.
Don’t have a Facebook page for your business? You can still apply. You simply need to provide a business registration extract from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
