Greater Sydney plunged into a 14-day lockdown and beauty services halted until 9 July [UPATED]

[UPDATED] The Sydney lockdown has been extended to 14 days and now covers a vastly larger geographic area. From 6pm today, Saturday 26 June 2021, Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong will all be under stay-at-home orders until 11:59pm on 9 July 2021.

You are permitted to leave the house for four reasons only: essential services, educations, to provide care and for outdoor exercise.

Beauty businesses will be required to close as they are not considered essential services. Professional Beauty has contacted the office of the Premier seeking answers on financial support that will be extended to small businesses and the beauty sector for this extended lockdown and beyond.

The modest COVID-19 Disaster Payment of $350-$500 dollars will be available to eligible applicants after the first seven days of lockdown, so from Thursday 1 July 2021.

[UPDATE] The four Government Local Areas of City of Sydney, Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick will go into a 7-day lockdown from 11:59pm tonight, Friday 25 June 2021. There are only four reasons to leave your home in these areas: essential services, to provide care, to exercise outdoors and for education. All other businesses in the LGAs will need to close for the 7-day period, including beauty businesses.

For businesses outside of the 4 LGAs, the restrictions below are still valid and will continue for another 7-day period.

[ORIGINAL POST] The latest public health order in force requiring mask wearing indoors in several NSW government areas began last night, Sunday 21 June 2021 at 4pm and will be in place until 12:01am on Thursday 24 June 2021.

The government areas are:

City of Sydney
Bayside
Canada Bay
Inner West
Randwick
Waverley
Woollahra

Along with a list of other retail and business venues providing goods and services, these are the beauty businesses in which employees and patrons are required to wear a mask where practicable:

hairdressing salons
nail salons
beauty salons
tanning salons
waxing salons
spas
skin clinics
tattoo parlours
massage parlours

Skin treatments will still be allowed as removing a mask is ok when it is needed to provide a good or service. For example, you can remove a client’s mask to perform things like facials, injections, beard trims and facial massage.
