The best beauty looks at the Oscars
The Oscars are as much about the makeup as they are about the acting, with Emma Stone’s old school Hollywood glamour, Hailee Steinfeld’s romantic smokey eye and Naomie Harris’s terracotta lids flooding the internet with inspiration mere hours after being snapped. Events like the Academy Awards have just as much impact on our industry as the catwalk, so take a look below at the latest looks your customers will be asking for.
Looking every inch the ingenue, Michelle Williams let her natural beauty shine though. A barely-there base, lightly dusted cheeks, soft peach lips and defined brows made her the poster girl of understated chic.
Theron looked lit from within thanks to her luminous foundation. A silver smokey eye and glossy lip ensured she didn’t look overdone.
Hailee Steinfeld was the epitome of modern romance. A soft bronze eye, bold brows and glossy lip added an element of softness which was juxtaposed with an expertly sculpted pair of cheeks.
Naomie Harris’s terracotta lids, radiant skin and gold highlighted cupid’s bow is effortlessly modern.
As the nominee for Best Actress in jazz drama La La Land, Emma Stone looked every inch old school Hollywood royalty. Burnished eyes, terracotta lips and matte and minimal skin was reminiscent of the 1940s sirens.
Sun kissed cheeks, lip gloss slicked lips and minimally shaded eyes created a natural but modern look for Halle Berry. “I went with a smokey smudged eye look, glowing fresh skin, and gave her eyes soft intensity and definition with lots of mascara, blended shadowing and liner,” Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua told Us Weekly.
This look is all about freshness, simplicity and illumination. Dewy, rosy cheeks and perfectly highlighted cheekbones paired with her frock-matching lip hue made for a classically glamourous look.
Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey gave Dunst a vampy edge this year, with a messy smokey eye and rose red lips championing makeup maximalism.
A orange-based red lip ad matching blush are the stars of Karlie Kloss’s Oscars look.
Charlotte Tilbury contrasted a bold pillbox red lip against Emma Roberts porcelain skin. A shimmery eye and a soft sweep of blush completed the look.
Olivia Culpo strayed from her usual neutral palette of bronze and gold eyeshadow with this lilac hued look. Artist Sir John surrounded her entire eye with the shade, applying a matte nude lip to not detract any attention.
Taraji P. Henson’s was the epitome of a sex bomb, with a contoured smokey eye with navy highlights perfectly complemented by glowing skin and glossy lips with a touch of mauve.
Another classic look, actress Sofia Carson was reminiscent of Aubrey Hepburn this awards season. Simple eye makeup with an illuminated water line paired with gorgeously matte skin and a bold red lip will never go astray.
US actress Felicity Jones was definitely pretty in pink with this look. Heavily lined cat eyes and matte, but natural, skin were a perfect pairing with her pink-coral lips.
Makeup artist Pati Dubroff Priyanka once again proved why shes the best in the business.
“Priyanka Chopra usually does deeper tones on her lip, so it was a bit of a departure for her to step out of her normal comfort zones,” Dubroff tells Allure of Chopra’s cool mauve lip color, which was ultimately inspired by the architectural design of her dress.
