Running all day Saturday and Sunday, attendees to the expo will be able to watch competitors create looks in categories such as tips and overlays, one hand sculpturing and gels. The ever popular and always amazing Design and Fantasy works will be on display in the competition area all weekend and this is an absolute must see. Sam Biddle, International Nail Artist, returns to Australia as Head Judge and talks below about her trip to Australia and what we can expect to see at this year’s nail competitions.

“This is the third year I have been Head Judge for the Australian Nail Awards, and I have seen it grow steadily over that time. Nail art and design are my pet categories and I am impressed with the level of entries and the standards. Since the first year I have watched the competition grow and with the hard work of Tracey Boyle, the completion organiser and Reed Exhibitions, each time I return the entrees have blown my mind. I am expecting great things this year. Especially for ‘Fantasy’ as there is no theme…this always excites me as the door is wide open and the ideas flow, resulting in some amazingly weird and wonderful creations. It is like taking a look into someone’s fantasy. The gel polish category has also grown steadily with this popular service now over taking many applications in the salon.”

“Coming over to Australia each year to judge the competitions coincides with my own Australian Tour, visiting 5 cities in 3 weeks, holding workshops for salon in viable and advanced nail art and design. The passion and enthusiasm of the Australian nail technicians is what keeps me coming back, with their thirst for new ideas from the rest of the world. Plans are afoot for a 2015 tour, and I look forward to seeing the Australasia nail industry grow stronger and richer.”
