The new contactless payment method

The use of cash is largely being avoided and discouraged at the moment. It’s unhygienic and it’s impossible to maintain any useful amount of social distancing while exchanging note and coins.

And now, with salons permitted to open for retail and voucher sales, funds are finally being exchanged again.

That said, a new completely contactless payment method is offering salons an alternative method of receiving payment.

PayID replicates the speed of cash, and is available for use with  more than 90 financial institutions. Setting up is simple. All you have to do is create a PayID account in the internet or mobile banking of a participating institution, using a simple identifier, such as your salon name.

With even less contact that using a credit card terminal, payments are made by the customer within their own mobile banking app on their own device.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen an increase in small businesses promoting PayID on social media as an alternative to cash,” says the brand’s CEO, Adrian Lovney. “These businesses need to pivot quickly to meet the challenges of COVID-19.” Unlike traditional online bank transfers that can take up to 48 hours to appear in your account, the beauty of PayID is in its speed. “Once your customer confirms the payment, it should arrive in your account in just under a minute,” says Adrian.

Over the last few months, PayID has had more than 4.6 million registrations in the country.
